Job Description

McIntyre Centre is a valued service of Help Enterprises, a values-based social enterprise whose mission is to enhance the lifestyle and independence of people with disability. Our McIntyre Centre aims to improve the physical, social and mental health for children and adults with disability through equine-assisted therapy, sport and recreational programs.

The centre requires the expertise of an experienced Equine Activities Trainer to join our team on a permanent part time basis at Pinjarra Hills.

This permanent part time role is offering approximately 30 hours per week across Monday to Saturday, within operating hours of 8:30am – 5:30pm.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring a safe riding environment for all participants, volunteers and staff
  • Implement strategies for safe work practices
  • Instruct participants in various Equine Assisted programs
  • Supervision of daily tasks and providing support for participants, coaches and volunteers
  • Work collaboratively within the McIntyre team to ensure the best outcome for participants and the smooth running of the programs
  • Complete and update documentation and records in relation to participants
  • Maintain positive relationships and support participants to meet individual needs and program outcomes
  • Assist with stable duties and other tasks as required

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • High level of riding ability and horsemanship
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching and/or training
  • Equestrian Coaching Qualification or equivalent experience and/or Certificate IV Workplace Training and Assessment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, participants and other visitors
  • Friendly and professional demeanour with a natural ability to build rapport
  • Ability to effectively work autonomously and in a team environment
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals with a disability
  • Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current Yellow Card (NDIS Worker Screening) and Blue Card, or ability to obtain
  • Current unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence
