Casual Horse Riding Instructor
Horses in Mind is a non-profit riding school and agistment facility located in Hemmant, approximately 30 mins from the Brisbane CBD. We offer group riding lessons, horsemanship clinics and a Horse Assisted Learning program accessible to those with funding under the NDIS. We are looking for multiple people to fill the following duties:
Grooming, tacking, administering basic medication, feeding out and general maintenance of horses and yard as well as one or both of the following:
Instructing private and group lessons, teaching beginner to intermediate riders on the flat and over small fences.
Coaching Horse Assisted Learning (HAL) lessons (1:1 or 1:2 student to coach ratios), teaching beginner to intermediate riders with a range of specialised needs including: sensory processing difficulties, ADD/ADHD, ASD, non-verbal/mixed communication, partial sight.
The focus of teaching at HIM is creativity and personal development rather than competition or traditional equitation. The successful candidate will be able to think on their feet and teach creative, engaging, activity based lessons and does not necessarily require advanced knowledge of dressage or equitation.
No special qualifications or experience is necessary to coach the HAL lessons, though experience with people with disabilities will be highly valued.
- Ability to work safely with horses and complete beginners
- Experience working with children
- Knowledge of horse health and care
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Current Working With Children Check
- Have your own transport
- Experience teaching horse-riding
- Over 21 years of age
