Experienced Thoroughbred Stud & Stable Hands

Bowness Stud and Watershed Farm require very knowledgeable, experienced and confident horse educators of young thoroughbred horses.

The role starts with assisting with the breeding season – foaling down when needed, vet work and foal care, then in October/November will move into intensive yearling sale preparation, including lunging, educating yearlings to stand correctly and lead/walk out for parades, grooming, washing, medicating, feeding, cleaning stables and other duties as required. Must be confident handling, hand walking and educating big strong unbroken thoroughbreds and have previous stable hand experience.

We require a commitment of at least 4 – 6 months work. Furnished accommodation in a shared staff house, private room may be available upon request.

One position is available to start on 25th September 2023, another position is available to start on 13th October 2023.

Applicants must have drivers licence and adequate previous horse employment experience with excellent references with phone numbers provided. This position counts towards 2nd & 3rd Yr Visa extensions, involves working 6 days per week (with overtime pay). Email resume to office@bownessstud.com.au.
